Jatropha has a very positive impact on the environment through effective reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG). Firstly, since Jatropha oil is poisonous and grows well in hot and arid regions and on marginal soils with low nutrient content, it does not compete with food crops for land and water. Dry marginal land can also be used for its cultivation, thus helping in reducing carbon debts. The oil winning process, in summary, involves the reception of fresh harvested fruits from the plantations, automatic drying of the fruit, separation seeds from hulls and pressing out the crude oil. The crude oil is further treated to purify, dry and degum it for storage and transport.
Our Jatropha bio-oil presents a very promising alternative to diesel oil since it is renewable and has similar properties to the diesel. It can be used in conventional diesel engines without any engine modification, using a blend of 25% Jatropha bio-oil and 75% diesel.
